Default I built a line bore-er !

I had a excavator bucket come in over the weekend, with the cutting edge...... I mean the WHOLE cutting edge ripped off......

I worked over the weekend, and got the thing welded back up.

It also had the pin bores WORE out!!!! WOW!!!!! and a boss torn off one ear.
The pin bores were worn over 3/4" of an inch!!!

I just didn't know how I was going to fix it............ So I thought about it, till my brain hurt, and remebered the Portable Line Boring...anybody done it? thread., and went ahead and machined myself up a very fine lineboring set-up!

I'll post some pics tomarrow, as I have just left the shop for the night.

Pics pending....................

Now that sounds like a heck of a project, Jim. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures too - not
that I have the notion that I need one but I do want to see it.

Neat ,bet you use it a lot more than that one job .Loke the fact it is driven by the mag drill .How hard was it to control the feed rate ?Chips in bucket look like you were taking some decent cuts on each pass.

I got the idea, from a link in the other thread........
Works great.
As far as feed control........ not bad, have to be patient.... and real careful entering the cut, then if you get to agressive, the chatter will let you know.

I was taking aprox. .060 per cut..... .030 cut depth....... then I quit measuring and just eyeballed it, until I got close to the finished dimension.

This was certainly a SEVERE case of worn out bores!
