I've tried that with my Barbies, with so success at all.
For my body work hammers/dollies etc, heating them up/coating them with linseed oil seems to work for me on lots of tools. Then again, I've used lard to do the same thing 'way back when'. Here lately I've been using the heck out of that Permatex Metal Treat (S?). Leaves a really nice finish and with a little wipe down with an oily rag stays free of our terrible La. Patina.

I think that is similar to the process that the old gunsmiths used to brown barrels.

For a minute I was wondering why Madam's dog "Dolly" was rusting. Glad to see it was another Dolly. I guess I need to wake up before I start reading new posts in the forum.
