Default Bumper for my 06 Dodge Ram

I like the looks of some aftermarket bumpers but because I am cheap, have the ability and the facility decided to make my own. Didn't have too long to work on it today, so all I got done was the mounting plates and cut out the first few pieces....then I had to throw the stock bumper back on so I could drive to my in-laws for dinner.

Bumper body will be made out of 10ga with the center section(where recovery shackles will go) and mounting brackets being out of 1/4". Would rather make the entire thing out of 3/16 but it's only a half ton truck and I think a 3/16 bumper would be pushing it LOL.

only one boring pic tonight, hope to get farther tomarrow.

got a little more done today, was really hoping to be further but you know how that goes

center section is all tacked up, started to flare back under the headlight on the drivers side but ran out of time.

1/4" in the center (for the recovery points) and 1/8" everywhere else. I was planning on 3/16 but glad I decided to go with 1/8. It's easily twice as heavy as the original.

I really like how you raised the bumper up some. The stock ones on all trucks are so low now they make the trucks look gay. Nice work, when does your TV show start?

Randy, color will be black, getting rid of all the chrome and going to black.

journyman, I have a 3" body lift on the truck or I would have raised it more. Right now the bottom of the bumper is flush with the bottom of the mounting plate, in fact I had to trim the bottom up a bit to get the angles I wanted. Looking back now I wish I would have spent the money and went with a suspension lift
