Default Retractable caster

This little bench started it life when I rescued it out of the dumpster. I needed a little bench one day and brought it in, I had a piece of half inch plate for the top but the bench was a tad short so I welded four pipes to the top and welded the plate to the pipes. By accident it worked well, a place to place tools and what not and good clamping ability. I have been dragging it around for a couple of years now so I decided to put casters under it. But with casters it seems like no matter what you do only three hit the floor. So I came up with this idea. I use a 3/4" pipe to slide over a stub shaft welded to the main shaft to roll the caster over center when I need to move the table and bring it back down on to the threaded rod when using it. If anyone uses this idea on a bigger bench you might want to use two casters instead of one.

A good answer to a common problem. Good job.

Cool deal, digr. As usual.
Shocking lack of paint, though.

Hmmm, just how big would the castors have to be if they were placed on the rear of my Toy to ease the problems associated with short spaced parallel parking?
