Default Digital Photo Optic Tachometer

Yesterday, Jrb2 asked about the Stewart-Warner style contact tachometer, and I posted the comment about an inexpensive (read that as cheap) digital type, here is a quick review of the unit. I bought the tachometer from Meter Depot, it was about $33, that was the unit, extra reflective tape and shipping. I ordered the unit on a Saturday afternoon, and it arrived in the Monday mail, less than 48 hrs from Minn to upstate NY on a weekend. The instructions are very simple and I had the unit working in less than 5 minutes, from the Postman delivering it. It is made in China, no surprise, but it is very usable and I have used it many times at the shop and on jobsites for the boiler business. I used it to check the digital readout on the Jet JDP-20EVS, a drill press with electronic varible speed, and found it to be very accurate. Pic 1, shows the unit, 2, the case and tape, 3, the tape installed on the shaft, 4, the Jet readout and the last the tachometer readout.

Pros
1 - price
2 - ease of use
3 - accuracy

Cons
none

You know what, Jack?
You could probably get ol' Carsten to put up your SFT link on his site if you'd contact him - like he has done on his links page.
