Default Help with diode

This diode allows 12 volts to the coil only when the starter is engaged. I need a new one and don't know what to order, I also need some kind of holder for it.

The drawing is more than bad, do you have a picture of the old diode.

Why the holder?
most single diodes above 6 amps are a threaded stud mount.

I can see some numbers on your old diode. look closely you probably can see the numbers and get the same diode.

1) picture
this is about the standard if you were comparing pictures.

diode on the right 1 amp or less
center 3 amp
left 5 to 6 amps

Going by pictures your old diode is likely a 3 amp
the one in my picture is a 1N5404 ( 3 amp at 400 volts)

I would guess the old diode is 3 amps and 400 volts minimum.

Average car coils pull 3-4 amps may want to go with a 6 amp diode.
the 1N5404 can handle a 200 amp surge for 8 milliseconds so they likely figured a second or two should be fine.

That will work
but
if you are going to purchase "new" may as well get the higher voltage rating most of the time its only a few penny's more.

here you go from your link 1000 volt rating. and cheaper
