My dad had one of those. The stone was seriously out of round.

You definitely do not want to turn the rpms up to 10,000 on that one.

More pictures might help to identify this machine.

Going off picture in the first post with one wheel visible. My dad's wetstone looked like that and there was a foot board to pump to make it go round.

I don’t think I could restore anything that was made by someone else’s hands, it just feels like sacrilege. I wish my father would have kept this in better condition. It is, in my opinion far more interesting than many of the items he has placed in his museum.

What I find interesting about this is the person who made this saw could still be alive. Moreover, he likely never heard of any of the modern machines that have largely replaced the contour band saw when he was building it.

Also interesting is the builder of this saw likely had no idea that in just a few decades the world would be flooded with cheaply made saws of the same capacity that probably worked better than his.

He also might be surprised to know that not only will no one make saws like his in the not too distant future, they often will not be repaired when they break.

I believe it is honoring those before me to restore old stuff.
