Got some time to work on the saw today. Cleaned up the dashpot and found brake cleaner strips the paint off easy. So removed the seafoam green. If I enjoyed painting, I would strip it and repaint it. The battle scares will stay. Got the glob on the guard cut out and fitted it with a new piece of metal. I think it much looks better. Posted the Clarke on Craigslist.

You got a pretty good deal on that saw. I love seeing old iron repaired for another go round.
What kind of gooseneck hitch is that?

It is a Cody Cushion, I bought it couple years ago in effort to smooth the ride for our horses. I think it helps their legs.

Yes, instead of getting a shorter blade they cut and added patch.

The parts were delivered yesterday and of course I had to put the saw back together last night. The test cut was off a bit and after a slight adjustment to the rear guide and reducing the head pressure she is cutting true. I can't believe how this saw performs. It is a beast.
Installed the new cup seal in the dashpot and mounted it on the saw. Filled it with jack oil and I was in business. Now for the best part. I sold the old Clarke for $150.00 making my total out of pocket for the new saw $180.00 which included 2 new blades. Now to build a platen for vertical cuts. |

Looks good, once you get it tuned it should stay that way. My Wellsaw stays tuned unless someone else uses it and over tightens the vice.

I don't know how yours is but on mine the rear vice swivels and is held by two bolts and if you really reef on the vice screw the rear jaw will move.
