Boy, did we have YOU fooled. Just look out the window. Not now, but just as darkness descends. See those indistinct, lumpy figures scurrying about with pointy objects, muttering incoherently? Bwa, ha, ha, ha.

JohnBoy, I don't know exactly what that tank thing is. It could be the smell of money, or "honey". And I don't care for the latter.

The tank thin is for hauling liquid shit. It is also handy for pumping out the septic tank. The one pictured is basically the same as a truck mounted unit just bigger. On that one a vacum is created inside the tank and the slurry is sucked up through a hose. To unload the tank is hooked to the exhaust side of the pump and is pressurized. The slurry (animal waste) is usually knifed into the ground. By knifing in we get 2 things, we save the nitrogen content and we keep the smell minimized. We use the manure as fertilizer replacing man made fertilizers. Human waste is supposed to go to a waste water treatment plant. The tank we have at the farm, the pump is run by the PTO by a shaft. The other option is to run the pump with a hydraulic orbit motor.

Manure is still spread with truck mounted manure spreaders, and one outfit I have seen has a very apt company name.
Proudly lettered on their trucks: Crap Shooters.

I got my utility trailer towed in AK by a company called The Happy Hookers. He was a real nice guy. Let me use his welding equipment to weld up a cracked trailer tongue. Offered me a job after he saw the weld repair. Told him the missus would probably not appreciate me telling everyone I worked for The Happy Hooker company. Made him laugh.

I tend to agree whole heartedly.
