ACSR= Aluminum Conductor Steel Retainer. Basically it has a steel wire in the middle to keep it from sagging and stretching too ,uch under load. The insulated stuff don't have it in it because the entire conductor is Aluminum so it sells for more. the steel core can be taken out for a higher grade but depending on how much of ie you have and how big the conductor is it could be more trouble than its worth. Larger conductors will have more steel in the center so that would be something to consider.

Same here. I had figured it was a common scrap yard term.

Insulated #2 copper wire....in my case this was a few old drop cords
Insulated #1 copper wire...electrical wiring (think ROMEX)

Its nice when your gutting a house and all the 40 year old wiring is getting replaced.

It may well be a common scrap yard term.

Just because I was not aware of it does not mean that it is not a common scrap yard term. I sell very little scrap other than aluminium cans from time to time.

I am not fussing. Nothing aginst you or anybody else.

In time the right project will find the scrap pile, no need for the scrap pile to go out looking for a project.

Prepared scrap (16 in. or less) in Dodge City Kansas: $135.00/Ton.

I've rolled up some old barbed wire and banded the rolls with Band-it strap. They will take it like that, but not w/o the secure banding. Seems like they dont like digging loose barbed wire out of the tracks on their excavators. go figure.
