Texas Metals, Abilene Texas, today.

No.1 steel - under 3 ft long, $100 ton.

No.2 steel - over 3 ft long, $90 ton

Aluminium cans - 25 cents a lb, over 100 lbs, 30 cents a lb.

Aluminium - clean irrigation pipe - no cast al - 35 cents a lb.

Did not ask about cast iron, cast aluminium or copper.

Default Buy side prices..NC

steel (no size limit) 0.10/lb

aluminum cast or machine drops .50/lb

Harv, I haven't checked, but I've always heard that Pine Street paid more than Texas Metals. Of course you have to factor in the price of a new tire or two after you go in Pine Street and ruin your tires.

Yes, I was wondering about that the two times that I have been unloaded in the back area in the past. But guess that I was lucky, no tire problems.

I think that both places are fairly close in their prices.

Might give Pine Street a call tomorrow to see what they say.

It isn't scrap price, but future son in law bought a 12' piece of 2X2 inch 1/4" thick walls, for $29.00!!!! Oh, it was new!!!!!

He could have got the other 11' for about $9.

Pine Street Salvage today

No. 1 steel - $90 ton

No. 2 Steel - $70 ton

Cast iron - $70 ton

No. 1 copper - $1.70 lb.

No. 2 copper - $1.60 lb.

Brass - $1.00 lb.

Aluminium cans - 25 cents a lb.

If I got it right, No.1 steel is under 3 ft long and under 18 inches wide.

No.2 is over 3 ft. long and over 18 inches wide.
