Default New Toy...

On my last pillaging run to the panhandle, one of OM's buddies gave me an old Hossfeld No.1 Bender. It was given to him after the local high school closed their shop program. I don't think anybody at the high school knew how to use it. It was missing most of the usual parts including the handle. Randy had one he wasn't using and sent it. Thanks Randy!

I finally got a chance to put it together and set it up. The handle randy sent would not fit the socket. I didn't know much about them but a little research provided the information. The differences between a No.1 and a No.2 and physical size and capacity. The No.2 is bigger; the handle Randy sent was from a No.2. (In fact most of the accs. from a No.2 will not fit a No.1.) No problem, remove the socket, drill an extra hole in the handle and bolt it up solid. Where it is at, the handle won't be in the way so might as well leave it on. I used grade 8 bolts for the pins and what I have works like a champ. Night and day better than the HF bender I already had. The base came with it but needed cleaned up. There had been alot of stuff welded to it over the years. Add a coat of paint just to agitate cutter a little.

I tried to pay OM's buddy $25 for it. He wouldn't take it, as it was free to him, and was happy to see it go to someone that might get some use out of it.

It is another fire pit... I dunno about small. The tank end I'm using is 3 foot across. Pictures of it will follow in another thread later...

You betcha', I do most of the metalwork outside. I'm a man likes the feel of nature. Besides metalwork is best done with plenty of ventilation. And yes madam, at 104, I'll still be outside while working, biking and many other activities....

If you're concerned about someone running off with it. Most of the people around here know me and advise those that don't to not linger around my place uninvited. The local constabulary has a standing agreement to bring the coroner if I call them.
