Default Bending Jig

Started a new project a couple days ago. Worked an hour or so off and on. Got this far. It is a copy of one posted here a few days ago with some changes. Used 4x6 angle iron and 1/2"x 3" long studs. Plug welded the studs from the bottom so the angles would sit flush in the vise.

I wanted to have some flexibility for bending different materials and the type of bends. Made bushings for the studs from 1" round in case I wanted a longer radius bend. Still have to get some 1"x3" solid square so I can make sharp bends if I wanted. The angles slide each way to adjust for material thcknesses.

More pics after I finish the square bushings.

I am going to have to make a set for myself too. Maybe even a set at work. Nice idea.

Headed down to the local fab shop to get some 1" square and had a FORD. Just use angle iron and weld in drilled out 1/2" nuts to slide over the studs!!!

Headed back home, cut the angle, drilled the nnts and welded it all up. I think this is a better idea than square as there is more surface area using the angle iron.

Still have to splash some paint, as Joey says, and it will be finished. Toying with the idea of adding a couple of additional removeable studs for doing multiple bends or odd angles. Easy to later if the need comes up.

Looks good, the dies will be a nice addition if you want to do a bunch of small radius repetitive bends. You can bend any radius you want though if you do it incrementally. The first piece I bent on mine was a 3ft diameter circle(ish)

So, before we get to see how the project works, we have to wait for the paint to dry? Geeesh!
