I came home yesterday to a big yellow "cease and desist" notice stapled to the front of my shop
After giggling a little since there is nothing as far as they are concerned to cease and desist I tried to call the code enforcers office only to find out they are only open Monday and Wednesday mornings. I left him a voicemail to call me back so I could see what he didn't like.
He called me back a couple hours later and is either incompetent or giving me a break. He was surprisingly not a dick, and said disregard the C&D and get done what I need to because he understands winter is coming. Someone blew me in for working without a permit and he said after he gets back from his two week hunting trip stop by and get a permit for my "new roof" Sure thing buddy...
Hopefully he tells me who complained. Most of my direct neighbors could give less than a fuck, the ones up the road are kinda dicks though. They had some kind of pre season event on the ski hill last weekend so it could be some busybody attendee is the culprit.

that's a bit sh*tty, but the enforcer seems sound so looks like it'll work out ok?

Love the build. the jack/split/infill approach is something you'd just never see done here.

I dont think you see that much anywhere I do like making things more complex than they have to be.
I'm not friendly with the previous owner or anything but I would love to see his reaction pulling into my driveway and seeing what I did to his little shop.

That's great. Sounds to me like the guy is just doing what he had to do in light of the complaint but with the intent of tossing minimum bullshit in your path.

Didn't you turn in the Ski Hill to the county last year for a sign or something?

Had my meeting with the code enforcer, all is now taken care of for my "re-roof" He was not a dick and I thanked him for such. He could not tell me who complained but suggested I submit a foil to obtain that info. After I was done with him I crossed the hall to the clerks office and did my paperwork there. Shortly later I was emailed the complaint...not any of my neighbors but rather some hero that works for the highway dept. If there wasn't now a papertrail linking me to him, I would send him a box of dogshit for Christmas.
