Default The Post Hole Digger

I think this is more mechanical and a little fab. So I'm going to put it here.

So I bought this Post Hole Digger off Marketplace. It ain't all there, so it was cheap. You all know me. I'm cheap. But I'm not easy. But I can be tricked. Lol

Anyhow, I got it home. Now I'm going to mount it on the 52 DC.

So I get started.

At this point, I'm figuring out the range of motion.
So after I get that figured out, I need to put a slight bend in the lifting arm. Dad says, "Just get the torches out and make it fit."

So I get these washerscut out for wear. Cause the channel I have was thin. I was ramming holes with this little drill press I bought off eBay.
I'm well aware of the dangers of that drill press because my Dad has one, and I used it when I lived at home. And I've been bloodied up with it a lot of times. But it works well and I like it. I'm a dangerous person. Lol, according to some. Lol

So here I go with the mock-up. What a pita.
So I get it figured out. Low point and high point lift arm length and all that Rigama roll. And let's not forget all the fancy welding and things that go with the calculations. LolClick image for larger version

So test time! I go down to the area where I am building the cow pen. I drill the first hole. The dirt is kinda hard. I knew that I dug the holes by hand for their building many years ago. Now I'm setting up the outside pen for them. Click image for larger version

It did work well except for the fact that the soil was all clay down about 18". But that's only in places. It might be ok.
