stock table for flame cutter

well i bought a flame table this past summer and it's almost time to put it to work, so i had to build a stock table for it. the cutting surface is 6' X 12' and is made of 1/4" X 3" HR strips, the top frame is 4"X4" X 3/16" sq tube. the tub is made from 1/4" plate and the fork tubes on the bottom were also bent from 1/4" plate. i cut suction slots in the bottom of the 4X4 tube as i plan to hook a blower (for suction) to it to create a down draft to keep the smoke where it belongs.....away from my and other peoples lungs if i can't move a high enough volume of air through the tubing to remove the smoke, i fully welded all the seams so i can flud it with a few inches of watter from my calculations it should tip the scales at almost 2400 lbs.

first, second and third are overall pics from diffrent angles, fourth is a pic to sell the torch on eBay but i included it so you could see how i seperated the slats. enjoy!!

Craig you’re going to love that table. Nice job too by the way ! Before I went to London, ON. to look at my cnc plasma, I went over to South Seattle, where a friend programmed two machines for a huge sheet metal shop. Their machines did not have automatic Z. they had an exhaust system like your talking about building. They could cut the hell out of a 10’ x 20’ sheet of 26-Ga and never have to worry about the sheet bowing. There was so much suction, they had to turn the fans off to clear the bed.

Thats pretty cool. I want to make a small semi-mobile one for my plasma---speaking of which, in regards to your other thread which seems to have drifted slightly off subject, my wife works for a medical/gas supply place. They sell millers and hypertherms. I bought my hypertherm 600 for 10% over thier cost (or so they say) but it was still more than online.
I paid right about 1630.00 after tax. Dont know if it helps any but there ya go.

Oh it must have been late August early September of 2002. Flew into Detroit rented a car and drove to London. I could not believe how many bugs the windshield of that car killed on that stretch of road! Only stayed one day, just long enough to look over the machine, and make my deal. Would have loved to stay another day, London looked like a neat town to explore. If you ever get interested in buying a cnc machine Ken Glendenning is just a few minutes west of London.
