Default Plant Hangers

Made a couple of plant hangers for the missus. Used 1" galvanized pipe, old fittings and old useless valves. Welded some 1" pipe arms with 1/8" 6013, after grinding off the galvanized coating, to aid in driving it into the ground and should make it more stable too. Flattened out the bottom of the bottom of the pipe to make it easier to drive into the ground.

I had her thread some pipe in the process. She is happy and I did not spend a dime in making them.

Now if you'd use a 'live' water line, the plants would be easy to water too.

I have a fire hydrant I do plan to make functional to install in the yard. It has been on my list for 4 years. Maybe next year will be the time.

What's with the pipe insulation on top of the fence? I've lived in neighborhoods where I've wanted to sharpen the pickets.

The insulation is to keep the birds from slipping off the top of the fence and getting their heads caught in the gap between the fence boards. Before the insulation, about 3-4 birds a month died. Now none do.

I had one back in 2000 in the yard in WA. I dug a pit next to the hydrant so I could turn the water on and off and drain the line for freeze protection. It got a lot of smiles from the neighborhood. I want to add underground sprinklers, and that is when I will do the hydrant.

If the birds are that clumsy, they deserve to get hung in the fence.
