Ok guys, haven’t forgot about this, got wrapped up at work. Just Got done with the first round of Kansas peak shavers. Quite a trip.

Looks like it’s set for the third weekend in May, if anyone is still interested in coming.

The curiosity is just killing me and I got to ask, what the hell is a Kansas Peak shaver?

Interesting, I just internet searched the phrase and got this

I live in KS and never heard this term. Probably because I am not in power generation.

Monster gensets that are standbys until peak demand hits. They come online and help get through the high demand.

Here it starts in the summer when the air conditioning hits full swing. The electric Co op gets raped for exceeding their KW usage so these “shave the peak demand”. One of these units will pay for itself in 4-5 years.

Some factories use this kind of setup also but on a smaller scale.

Most of these are V12 cat diesels

I just happen to be in Kansas setting two more up!
