Default For All New or Prospective Members.

I have noticed in the past few weeks we have been getting a lot of new members that were not over at our previous homes.

WELCOME!!!

This site is to help us all novice to experienced, professional and hobbyist alike. The core group of members is also very safety conscious. Please all new members ask questions. We all agree that there is no such thing as a dumb question only dumb mistakes. Everyone has something to contribute. From the guy who is thinking of getting started and has never welded to the retired welder of forty years experience.

The management (me) believes in freedom of speech in you posting your thoughts and feelings. All I ask is be professional in your postings. Moderation was perceived as a problem at one of our former homes. Please post your bios and interests and the general area/location you are from. I do not sell or use you email address for anything other than SFT correspondence, and that is minimal.

Please enjoy, share and post a lot.

Sincerely,
Ron Lemke

Oh yeah and tell all your friends, welders and non-welders alike.

I've been noticing (and am also very pleased) to see some more old names crop up as well as so many new members or user names. But I want to ask a personal favor of you. It often adds a lot to your posts (for me ) if I know - at least in a general way - where you're coming from. I don't care what your street address is, or if you live in a house or apartment. But very often, if I know you live and work in Ontario or in Miami, I can get a lot more from what you have to say. And over time, I can often learn something about how your location & environment affects or influences the techniques & processes you use, or maybe just how you look at things. Besides that, it just adds flavor to your comments as far as I am concerned. And sometimes, your questions can be aswered much accurately if we have an idea about the climate where your work is being done.
So please, guys - edit your profiles & fill in the locations part of it so it will appear with your name when you have something to say. I think it may even help attract more new members, too.

"The management (me) believes in freedom of speech in you posting your thoughts and feelings. All I ask is be professional in your postings."

Just a dang minute, how did Shade become management? Did Mrs Shade tell him he could be management on the board, so he wouldn't figure out he don't have anything to say around the house, and has to answer to the goldfish?

New Guys, it is a lot easier to answer some of your questions when we know where you are. Conditions are a lot different in the swamp where Cripthy dwells than they are in Arizona, so some of the answers will be different based on geography.
I figure you came here cause we either have the answers, or know where to go get them. Oh yea, we also offer 1 free haircut, if you don't mind travelin to Texas and sittin on a drywall bucket to get it.
Welcome to the nuthouse, get comfortable, and NO SPITTIN on the floor.

I'd like to add, a little backround bio about your experience is a big help on how to answer a question. Like morpheous said post some pictures. we all like to see them, your projects, shop, Etc. DogZilla says he would like pictures of dogs. Don't be bashful.

Say Jim, maybe if you put a sailor hat on Dogzilla, and had him sit around the house lookin forlorne, she who must be obeyed might relent on that sailboat.

Default Question for Shade

Hey Shade,
How do I edit my bio? I'm sure it's simple , I'm just not doing something right.

Tim, at the top of the page, click "User CP" (Control Panel) then look on the left side, click on "edit profile" then just fill in the lines you want to add info to. Or if you mean to change something previously filled in, highlight the old data, hit backspace to wipe it out & fill it back in, or just highlight it & type over it..

If you want to add a sig line, click it separately and fill it in.

The avator button does not work due to a mysterious software glitch; if you want to add an avatar you need to email it to shopfloortalk at aol dot com.
Ron will post it for you through the administrator's panel.

Hope this gets you fixed up.
