Default Carbide Burr substitute?

I had to break out the die grinder with a carbide Burr today to egg out some holes on a combine today. I was rapidly reminded of the fact that the burr was a creation of Satin himself for all the little metal slivers everywhere. The best thing I have found to get them off my skin and gloves is a blow gun with compressed air. That really isn't the problem, the trouble is all the slivers everywhere. Any suggestions for something else to use in the die grinder that is effective as the burr but with out the satanic residue.
