Eastwood 175
Hey guys I am looking at purchasing the Eastwood 175. I am new to welding and on a newlywed budget (basically the reason I'm looking at this unit). I will be using it for fixes around the ranch and toys (build frames etc). I'm just curious if anyone on here has one or has used one. The ratings ive been reading are excellent and the welders are being compared to the Miller and Lincoln brands. I don't want biased comments just whether or not you have one or have used one. -thanks!

Works great
I have one, had it about 2 years now and have had no problems with it. You shouldn't be disappointed.

It was a biased question.

Okay well maybe it came across as a biased question not intended to be. Just from reading a lot of posts it seems like there are "miller,Lincoln,orHobart" guys that's why I put that.

There are a few of the new cheapo Chinese machines that are getting good reviews such as the Everlast, Longevity and HTP models. However, how long will they last under heavy use? What will it take to get warranty work done on them when, not if, they break? I rather have a 30 year old Miller or Lincoln transformer machine than a brand new Chinese made inverter machine.

I like the older machines too, but knowing that hobart and miller are sister companys, I would lean toward the hobart machine over the eastwood. I'm pretty sure hobart still has the 5/3/1 warranty, whats eastwood's?

I happen to like my "brand new Chinese made inverter machine". You really should not speak for everyone. If you have used one of the so called inferior products, just relate your experience. If not, maybe you should not be so quick to denigrate others. |

What I said does not cover "everyone", as you seem to equate, but what I said covers enough for my statement to be at least true. I simply said there are "Miller, Lincoln and Hobart guys here". That does not equate to "everyone". I have tried the cheaper products, machines, consumables and tools, and found them inferior and I came away with a bad taste from it. If you like your new Chinese made inverter machine then you should relate your experience and not be so quick to feel as if you have been denigrated.
