Default One reason I don't wear jewelry...

A dumbass stopped by the shop lastnight. Thought he would be a hero by tightening a pretty girl's battery cables.

Battery 101 is you NEVER put tools on top of the battery EVER! This was not the case but did involve a wrench on the (+) terminal, a ring on a finger of the hand holding the wrench and a steel battery hold down bolt. Once the circuit was made by the ring and wrench touching the hold down, POP! the ring and wrench glowed red hot as seen by this week-old injury. Yes it was worse!

Years back I had a gold wedding band. Very soft, like 22K gold. Got it in Thailand. One time I hopped a couple feet off an aluminum stepladder and it caught on the edge of the extruded step. No real harm done but the soft ring elongated into a pear shape.

I don't wear jewelry anymore. I did start wearing underwear in my later years.

Something to do with being tough when your dumb,.... LOL !

Have not been there and done that. Done allot of other stupid similar shit,...

When I was in school a class mate laid a large combo wrench across the terminals in error..

Luckily he was the only near by when the battery exploded... he was wearing allot of the battery acid, when the smoke cleared.

Had a classmate in Freshman auto class get a "Twistoflex" metal watch band across a battery positive cable on an Alternator and ground. Turned instant red hot, burned the shit out of his wrist and other hand trying to get it off. Human flesh roasting doesn't smell like steak, pretty stinky actually.

I was only 22 and married for three years. Doing ranch work. Riding a horse through a gate and put my hand on top of the wood post as the horse walked on. A 16 penny nail head stuck up abut a 1/4" caught my ring and the horse walked on while I was drug off the back of the horse. Very little bleeding but that was the end of wearing the wedding ring. Still have the ring in a box in the bedroom.

many years ago I had a finger smashed and they cut my wedding ring off. The plant safety guy saw me come in to the infirmary. He walked over with a flashlight looking tool he stuck under the ring and zipped it right off. I think I still have it around here somewhere. Never wore a ring again.

I think there's more to this story...

I've never worn jewelry of any kind around the shop; just not worth the risk...
