Default abrasive belt splicing

I have a bunch of abrasive belts that are coming apart from age. Anyone have any luck with a splicing tape and if so what name and where can it be found.

This is a deal breaker....

Coated Tapes have the adhesive already applied to them. The coating is a precise, uniform amount of thermosetting polyurethane. The tape is stored frozen and shipped in dried ice. You will be required to keep the tapes in cold storage and will be ready to use shortly after removal from the freezer.

No experience with this other than I have a few old belts that don't last very long until the splice gives up the ghost.

I wonder if a thermosetting tape like a carpet splicing tape would work.

On edit, found a video where the guy uses contact cement, lets it set for 24 hours.
