I stripped one down, a big working model, and scrapped it out, when all it turned out to be was a blown fuse.

In the end it wouldn’t have mattered because I had already bought a new one for my wife so that one was history.

But if I had known I would’ve just changed the fuse, and donated it to the local thrift store.

Our original Whirlpool Microwave lasted 20+ years. The Fridgidaire might be 2 years old. The same microwave is marketed under various brands so it's worth a look before you toss it. Once you pull the vent assembly across the top. there is literally 1 screw that ties in the top of the control panel assembly. You just pull the top out unhook the wiring connectors (I just took a pic with my phone to make sure I could keep them straight) then it just rolls out from the top with a couple metal hooks on the bottom. Like I said last night the repairman's schematic saved my ass looking for the fuse. On the top right above the control panel there is a little metal vertical grid with once again 1 screw securing it pull the screw and grid and there is the fuse holder. Fucking Bastards

Default She opened the door while it was running

I knew it was going to happen sooner or later. But, I had time to find switches and get them shipped here. The appliance parts outfits want $25 per switch. I found a deal on Amazon for $10 for all 3 switches with excellent feedback from folks who had purchased them. It's probably the same Chinese factory that supplies the OEMs. Do you think they know it's a generic issue? So, I will tackle doing an R/R on the switches and fuse later today after I get a Sirloin roast on the smoker.
