Default Suburban Renewal

Finally, after many delays, we are on the edge of spring. It has gone from -18 nights to no frost at night for tomorrow. Tomorrow day forcast for +10 or 50F.
Through the cold my friend Tim with the hoe has been chasing mechanical bugs on his truck, and then when ready to go....The company he contracts to, called him back to work on patching a gas line.
So, after the line failed the test again, head office abandoned it, they won't spend a dime of anything at this time. He was free to go back to my job.

The house demolition is back on. Yesterday the house was removed and hauled out to the burn pit.
I was on the loader pushing the scrap over the edge and keeping the nails out of the path of the truck. And of course, shit happened. The special silly pump coupling between the engine and the steering and brake pump came unglued and I was shut down. So the oe had to rattle over and push back the piles instead.

Margot and I worked on the loader for 3 hours and got it back together and running. I could not have done it without a small person with little hands. The option was remove the radiator to access the pump coupling. There was a 30 mph wind and it was definitely cold, but I am up and running for today.
Tim put on a small bucket so he is tearing down the basement walls and carport pad, and then we will mine some clay and back fill the hole. I will be pushing fill and wheelpacking.

It will be completed today, and just in time for the melt tomorrow.

Well, you got your view back anyhow.

And it does look like you are still well and truly mired in winter. We are well into spring now. Grass is growing, buds are popping out--I'd say the majority of the cherry trees are in full bloom now...

Yep, the northern parts of the prairies have been getting lots of snow.

I’m roughly three hours east of Gerry, and we really don’t have above freezing temps showing for another week or so yet. Would be nice though, so that at least there’s more possibilities to get outdoors and start on stuff.

Google Earth says 151 miles (as the crow flies) from his place to the centre of Wainwright...

In Alberta we drive as the crow flies
Spent the day enlarging my clay pit a little and I pushed and wheel packed for the dump truck as the fill was brought in..
Now we brought the hoe back to pack it with the bucket and grade it . My wife says, whats going on, the house is shaking. I explained he is packing the fill.
I'm amazed watching him operating. He can stretch out 30 feet and pull the bucket in and leave a perfect smooth level path behind him, and then do it again and the site is smooth as heck.
I only know enough to know how hard that is for me to do.

Well, add two blocks as that’s how far east we are from Main Street.

Today's progress came to a halt because an upper track roller is squealing mightily, and tomorrow it will be changed.
Tim and truck driver in training. The lad did very good considering how greasy it was by afternoon.

Today is the first double digits temp, also first night of no freezing temp.
But due to the global warming bs, we had this scenario on March 22 last year, and the construction site became a sea of mud. Spring is much later this year, but we are 500 miles north of you. May not escape the mud today anyhow.

I got up this morning at 6 with a bit of sun and 0 degrees, and now clouded and -2
Unless things change the +10 is not going to fly with the cold front coming in.
Supposed to rain this evening, but it may be hard water.
