Default Pottery kiln for heat treating?

Not too sure about this, but could you turn the oven on it’s side? I guess depending on how the door is hinged.

There are or use to be some kiln ovens out there with side opening door like the forge ovens... but are a slow electric function same as open top kilns.

Hinged ??? All of them I've seen the LID just sits on top .
