That sounds worth a try. Thanks for the idea.

Git the indexing drill jig finished today. Made a spacer from a piece of 1 1/2" pipe and welded a 1/2" thick plug in one end so I could use the existing tool holder bolt instead of buying a new bolt. Painted the assembly with rust reformer. Welded a short piece of 1/4" plate to the bottom side of the 1/2" x 4" FB so it would be at the right spindle center height to mount the tool holder. The whole affair was very rigid. Drilled the spider holes with it. Worked real slick. Threaded to end of the 3/8" rod in the lathe for the 3/8" chuck.

:-) That is why he only used 3 holes in the spider. His "INDEXER" only has 3 stops. :-)

I could use the 4 jaw chuck and get four if needed.

Being a fan of Joe Py, I had to see what he says about indexing.

On the cheap is good.

Those collet blocks are the ticket for a lot of different things. I rarely need to index more than six positions so, although I have one, I rarely use my rotary table. They can be used for indexing two or four flats on a shaft, for aligning two keyways or for putting a hex on the end of a shaft if you want to turn it with a ratchet instead of an ordinary wrench...
