Jeep projects again!
I found a model online of a factory TJ frame, and modeled my own up from mitered rectangle tube. Plan is to make it into a Brute style pickup conversion. Stretching the wheelbase about 15" to make it the same overall length as a Jeep LJ . Plan to use a willys MB style grill, with a willys tailgate to make it different. We started cutting last weekend to rough length, and this morning did all the miter cuts. Here's the start of things: Sent from my SM-G986U using ShopFloorTalk mobile app

Progress today. Miter cuts, began chamfering corners for weld.
I had the plate parts laser cut at a friend's shop (Integrity Welding, Pekin, IL, thanks Josh!). More grinding, but done for today. Sent from my SM-G986U using ShopFloorTalk mobile app

When did Caleb grow up Have we all been here that long ?
This is an awesome project I think we all would have liked to be involved with as a kid. Looking forward to seeing it come together.

He's 13 now. Doing fantastic (for those who know his history).
He's really excited, even with the tedious stuff we are doing. He's super into science, and history seems to be his big interest, but his favorite class so far has been "Ag" class, which is our school's version of industrial arts. Very happy to try to teach him what I know. Sent from my SM-G986U using ShopFloorTalk mobile app

There are many ways to weave science into a project like this: metallurgy, chemistry and so on. Lots of teachable moments. And don't forget safety! Those habits will last him all his life.
