Default 302 trailblazer auto crater

I'm using a 302 miller trailblazer to learn the tig process, im starting to get it down but that auto crater feature that it has, has been a pain in my butt when welding pipe. Anybody else have this trouble or is it just operator error?

The new TB302 has a feature where you can turn off the auto crater.
I have never TIG welded with my 302, But if you have a pedal or wheel control, then doesn't that override the auto crater, where you can just stop the arc by letting off the pedal like with a regular TIG machine. IF so, Shade Tree has a hand control wheel for sale.
