Granted, one could cut that beam off, and re-weld it shorter, simply weld those tapped blocks to the end of the cylinder (there is a pusher plate there)
Better yet, buy a 20 ton (with air assist) and make one 12" wide. Recall the press brake chart, 20 tons will bend 1/4" plate, 12" wide, using the standard 8x material thickness opening (in this case 2" wide die) But the work expended would be much more for me. The unit would be much more massive (mount it on wheels). Anyways, I think it will make a good addition to the mobile shop trailer. For brackets, linkages and the like. |

A bit off the topic but, how often do you have to soap the gas well? Or do you have an alternate method to get the water out?

Well tender used to use liquid soap, he said my well wouldn't take the sticks. Now that they have it shut in (price of gas is down) they don't soap it. |

My mom had a Troybilt wood splitter. I thought about repurposing it to make a bender too. I didn't get around to it before my son discovered how handy it is to split wood for his stove. He is living in her house, so the splitter is being used for what it was purchased to do. It doesn't have wheels or a stand, so it's a pain to move around and use, but hey, he's young.

20 tons, 12" wide (able to doo 1/4" plate 12" wide)
https://blockshear.com/mini-stone-splitter But it's not a open ended design. I could see this being made smaller. and larger wheels like a hand truck, put it the "shop van. |

I'm seeing a pretty handy press in the making.
Especially if one were to make a plate to convert the splitter V to a flat face: = hydraulic vise. = hydraulic press A series of square tubes of various lengths and it would be very flexible to length. Quote:
