![]() So if you took some 2" thick plate (or what ever thickness you want) and drill a line of holes in a row, bandsaw a line thru the middle. Weld a flat plate to the bottom to keep it upright. Heck use hardox for longer life. Or am I missing something here ? |

Hi,
There are different types of swage blocks. Mine also has cone and round cut outs to make disk or spoons or ladles... Which is why I bought it. Don't use it everyday but when you need it, nothing else works as good! ![]()

No need for a band saw just tack two plates together and drill, then separate

Today there are like 4 people making new swage blocks.. I know one personally and very nice blocks indeed.
The advantage they have today is cast steels.. Or cast irons which are tougher like ductle. Most people won't ever use a swage block in their whole life time.. I mean larger blocks.. I own 4 of them.. At some point when the new shop is done I will make a video showing what the block was originally used for.. Kinda interesting really.
