![]() The video pretty much explains it all on why, and how. The only part that is glossed over is the way to the carbon uptake method works. Its just a simplified method to force carbon into the steel via a carbonizing heat and high temps. Takes but a few minutes and uses nothing but the forge, and some water.. Never tried to use oil.. With this method I have gotten results up to 60HRc but it's not really worth it for swages. Unharded mild steel works well, but for durability, for the next 200 years I've been hardening them. https://youtu.be/92xX0H0Tszo
