![]() Called the guy I bought the lathe from, since he removed the shafts a year before I bought it. A shaft was bent and he straightened it. He will be over in a half hour. Hopefully, he can give me the secret to remove the shafts. ![]()

Or you could have a set screw that did not have a flat under it on the shaft and raised a burr up you have to shear off when pressing the shaft out.

Got the gear out!!!
![]() The gear is 32 teeth on the large one and 16 on the small one. Bore size is 16 mm. Thickness is 18.95 mm. OD of the large gear is 59.52 mm and the small one is 31.25 mm. I expect the od sizes are a little bigger than I have listed due to gear wear. This is a Taiwan made Husky PC 36 lathe. So who has one of these out in their shop? I will post this info on some other sites as well as here to see if I can pick up a good used gear. If that does not pan out I expect it will be some shopping around to see if I can get a new gear somewhere.

I replaced the compound gear (32/16) on Willy 3 times before I got smart.
Ordered a 32 tooth gear from Boston Gear. Ordered a 16 tooth spur gear from Boston gear. 32 tooth didn't have a shoulder, the 16 tooth did. Bored the 32 tooth gear to fit the shoulder on the 16 tooth gear, pressed together & welded the shoulder inside the 32 tooth gear. Faced the weld off & it's now up & running once again. I ordered my gears through Amazon, I think I spent a total of around $42.00 for both. Might check online for replacements.

Turned out the shaft was a two piece shaft. Used my pocket knife to pry it out a little and grabbed it with a pair of channel locks and it came out easy.

In the third pic on post 4 you can see evidence of two pins that may have been used to press the two gears together.

It sure looks like that is the case that the two gears are pinned together. If you get the same od and the same number of teeth it should be a perfect match. There are avalable pitch guages for gears although I have no idea where to find them. But the right od and number of teeth should get the right one.
