There’s a few things there I’ll be taking a look at for sure.

I looked at things Monday evening, and at that point I could see prices going high enough that I quickly lost interest. Factor in the buyer’s premium that every auction house has added in these days, and most of what I was interested in was higher than what I was willing to pay.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think prices were ‘out there’, just that everything I was looking at was the ‘in case I need it someday’ type of thing.

Most of the online auction add the auction house fees on top of the sale price,
that is very annoying. Generally I know my max spend so I drop 10% off
that, generally I never win it.

Unlike the live farm auctions around here, you bid $100 you pay $100 then
the auctioneer takes his cut generally 10% on general items and 5% on thing
like tractors, trucks, combines etc. that get more $. It used to be if it sold
over $10k the rate dropped.

I am on a mailing list now for equipment auctions. You better up your 10% drop to 20% nowadays.

I have a place that does weekly repo auctions about 30 miles away, and I guess I can actually take things in to sell. My son actually did buy a vehicle there, and vehicles have their own special % tiers depending on final selling price. + a $125 license and title transfer fee + state fees. It added about $400 on a $1000 car.
