Makin' cones on a slip roller probably isn't any easier than bump bending them. I've done it both ways and I can't say that either way has an advantage. With slip rolls you've got to leave extra material on each end for the run out so that has to be trimmed and fitted. I think the biggest thing is whichever way you're most familiar with.

From start to finish I wouldn't be ashamed if it took me 6 hrs. to make two of those. You're right that it probably should be less but when you're only doing stuff like that once in a while it always takes longer to figure it out...

Measure twice and cut once...or...wait, was that the other way around?
