Chris, you'll be doing yourself a favor if you replace them with Fenner-type tab lock belts. They cut a lot of the vibration from the machine, assuming the spindle bearings are good.
If you decide the spindle bearings are noisy/loose, remember to specify the "P" in the part number, for Precision bearings. They are not terribly expensive & will be available through local bearing supplies, not Harbor Freight.
Also, if you do decide to replace them I can dig out the link to a step-by-step guide from one of Mildred's old threads. It seems to be a fairly common need on old Rong Fu mill drills.

Expert is likely years away from now.

Yes it was. I first looked at it about 9 months ago. Been trying a few times to haggle with him, but to no avail, so finally did the deed.

I have the tab lock belts on the lathe and they are quieter. The initial run says the bearings are all good.

Congratulations, Chris.
It's a slope for sure, but the round column is a good beginners machine. If you start lusting after a knee mill, you will have outgrown this one by then.

I have 1/8" through 7/8" by sixteenths. Expect that will do me at least for now.
