I put a large round bale on the 3pt spike when I have to do heavy lifting with the loader. Not so much for traction, or to keep from tipping...…...it's mostly to keep weight off the front axle. Tractor probably weighs around 10-12ish thousand pounds. But older tractors have weak front ends....weren't really designed for front end loaders. They were built for pulling.

Heaviest I've lifted is a full pallet of Quickcrete. Bit over 4K I believe. It's hard on the spindles though, and I don't do it often.

Just from regular use......handling bales on rough ground, I'd imagine I have front end failures at least once a year.
