Not really, cuts about like a 35 amp inverter/sort of. Some of those came alive with the one torch conversion. Really the Cutmaster 40 out now is head and shoulders more powerful. Has tons of arc voltage..

The 42 was just phasing out when I looked at one in the early 90's I believe? Salesman Just said they have not been that reliable if pushed .I think Hypertherm's First inverter type, but it was really a chopper unit.. This is from memory, but a lot of the work is done on the torch end of things to this day..

FWIW it cuts 1/2" acceptably.
So now the math's are even more jumbled.....

Maybe the Pak5 was the 5th machine made.

It has the original torch, is this the new torch ?:

How does it work with HF start and snap start ?

I knew the Thermal-Dynamics rep, and talked about different torches on them. He was also a MK products rep, and Esab Rep later.. Taught welding too.
He liked the Torch model before the one torch..Hi freq Surloc setup . I have one on my Dragun Plus 35c. What do you know, 35 amp built in compressor model. Anyway, the older transformer machine really do wake up with the one torch installed on them..

I have a Aircut 15c made in Korea like the 35c, and it's a very nice torch on it.I can run some .031/ 35 amp nozzles in it, and it will precision gouge like my Cutmaster 60i or Hypertherm 45 XP could. Maybe a bit easier on spot welds too. Lot of times even a older designed torch can do very up to date stuff with it. The High freq transfer makes the process very controllable Even this older Pacmaster 50 with the 40 amp 9-8225 gouge nozzles make it a very modern machine, even without all the fancy gouge modes/etc..

Update, on cost...

I went ahead and fixed the other older SL60 torch that came with the machine. It had a missing end fitting, and broken air hose. The fitting was a standard USA type, and I had one around here. The cable was nice otherwise, just a bit older style without a torch handle strain release. It works fine now. I put the other torch up on Craigslist for $250.00, and got a local offer for $200.00. I took the offer because it pretty much gave me a free functioning plasma cutter for Zero money.. Just Driving time, and a nice day trip.. Picture of the repaired torch style.. I think this is how you beat inflation these days..

Perfect. If it has issues there is a pin to hold the start cartridge in the open position. I have never needed it though..

The SL-60 torch will handle all you could give it. Just two more power wires, and a thicker cable cover makes it a SL100 torch.
