Default They lasted longer than I expected...

Two days ago, the batteries in the Dodge would not start the truck. Put a charger on it and it started the next morning, and the alternator was normal when running at 14 V. Let it sit overnight and batteries were way down and no start. the batteries were put in in 2012 so lasted 10 years. Did not realize it had been that long. So, $400 later I have new batteries.

Correct. The last battery in my truck and my wife's van did exactly that. Crank fine 1 time, would barely click the next start.

Down here in the south, with the modern automotive batteries, if you make it past 24 months you are gambling. It would be a rare exception to get one to last 3 years.

The new batteries were needed due to the age of the old ones, but there was a chance that the new batteries would not solve the issue. There could have been a dead short somewhere in the system. The only way to find out would be to let it sit overnight and start it up in the morning to see if there was any battery drain. I now have a big smile on my face, as the engine spun over at normal speed and the engine fired right up.

These were the original factory batteries in mine. I don't think the new ones last.
I have the Optima batteries now, no idea how well they will do
