Default The Newlin Mini-Gantry CNC plasma cutting table project

I mentioned this in Shades thread on "DIY Woodstove".

I ordered it on October 10,2021 and it finally arrived a few weeks ago.
I still have to build the table and rail supports (rails are still in crate below it).
But did power it up, and test it.

Both bridge and long rails are aluminum with stainless rods in them for longer life
on the "Vee" wheels. I have seen an american made CNC routur with only aluminum "V" rails.
Rack & pinion drives all around, and Motors with the pinions
are spring loaded to keep them tight on the rack(s).

Comes ready to run with Oxy torch, and includes the controls & THC for Plasma.

I bought a p-80 machine torch with 26 foot long cables to hook up to my PAK-5, need to dig inside
it for the THC voltage sensing and trigger wiring to the machine.

More pix.

My only concern at this point is a problem with the shipping people, I have
read over at PM, trucking companies trying to claw back extra charges (like for fuel surcharges...) 6 months later.
Or import duty type stuff.

Nothing as of yet, the freight was all put in the price, and I paid in full back in October 2021.

These are so nice, the tool, no nothing about this one. But if I had a need and the room I sure would own it.

I expect the plasma cutting, although the hardware would the biggest cost. In the end, will be easier on the wallet to operate.

Be watching the assembly and lift off.

Doug, once you get set up on plasma you will be happy enough to pee yourself. The precision and detail is very nice.

Yes, I repaired a Torchmate 5x10, and presently teach/run a torchmate 4x4.

Is the idea here that it's a CNC table without the table?

so everything is selfcontained on the gantry and you build a table to support the side rails?

Pretty much, I've got a prelim layout done, using 2" sq. x .13 wall tube.

Looks like the "mini gantry" design is taking off:

Got the fabricated parts from my neighbor's shop a few weeks ago.
Applied rustoleum safety yellow paint.

Assembled in shop, aligning rails.
Gantry is on, and running in demo mode.

Is very quiet and smooth.

Water tray is next, needs sandblasted and epoxy painted.
Need to make slat holder frame, and get some slats sheared from neighbors shop.
