I haven't really been checking prices the past few years. I was shocked at how much the prices have gone up.
I am glad that prior to retiring at the end of 2015, I acquired most of the equipment that I thought I would need. It seems that everything that I bought costs at least twice what I paid at that time.

Quality welding equipment WILL hold its value and in your case probably appreciated in value. I've seen a couple used welders sell around here recently for about retail when new.

When I bought my Big Blue 500 Deluxe (CA/CV) if I remember correctly I paid 14 or 16 Thousand for it. The new Big Blue 500 lists for 40 Thousand plus. The CST 282 lists for more than twice what I paid for my CST 280.
Before I retired my wife was working two jobs and I was putting in all kinds of extra hours. We acquired the land and the equipment we thought we would need.
If we had to acquire all this now we would be sucking pond water.

These are just a couple that I've watched recently. The Primeweld is $850 new, probably sold for $600 and had $100 in extras. It was about 1.5 hours away so that blew it for me.

The Diversion 165 was 1200ish? new? I wouldn't buy one unless it was cheap because the torch and leads are "fixed" and pedal connection proprietary. I also don't like the way the sellers have clamped the leads...

I just bought this used a $400 Not that I really needed another stick machine..:

It's mint, and will outlast about 3 of my Lifetimes..

Smart shoppers win in this economy .. I am down to 2 China made units,but just 120 volt only units. Really they work very well for the $69 and $239 I paid for them.. Main reason for the Lincoln it's USA built, is so old school simple..In fact a stack of USA built stuff.

My Trailblazer 302D was $8000 when I bought it. They now list for $17,335.
But unless your distributor is greedy, they should be priced at 20-25% off list.
Miller pays the freight to the lower 48 states, so don't let them BS you about
freight.
