After having seen what gets dome with them, I would never use an eyebolt from a scrap yard for lifting/rigging purposes.

There was a 26 year old man killed at a nearby site this week when rigging failed.

If you have a use for it that isn’t safety critical, by all means.

Yes, I get your point however it is not uncommon to find new product or eye bolts that are dedicated to a particular piece of equipment which itself is sometimes new.

A few months ago there were wood shipping crates full of rope slings. These were fabricated pieces made from large (1” or more) diameter steel cable With swaged thimbles and hooks. These were new never used, too big for me.

A very good haul today. Very good because I got stuff I can actually use or want, took only a few minutes to put away and only spent $60.

All the pieces of the quick change tool post are Aloris brand.
The vise looks to have never been abused.
6 bulk rolls of stainless steel roller chain (new)
440 pounds of 1/4”x1” CRS, the blue sticks in the last picture.

Sorry pictures aren’t loading, perhaps later.

The Aloris tooling is CXA.

Keep in mind fellows the majority of the $60 cost was the 300 pounds of flat bar (Total weight was 440 pounds). The other items added up to about $10!

The blue flat bar. These are 7 feet long and already have the holes that I want. Call me lucky!

I am leaving them out to hopefully remove the paint and rust up. I want to use them as siding strips for siding on my barn.

Nice score. Maybe someday I will find a good scrap yard to shop in.

My objective with this thread is to expose this resource and travesty to you and others who may be able to take advantage. Most have no idea of the loss of embodied energy and Americana that is taking place, sometimes in their own neighborhood.
