Don't know, but it doesn't look like it has power steering.

And as a bonus, it had no brakes either. So if you were the helmsman, your pay should have impressive. It was for flatland logging, and hills were a problem.

It's a steam Lombard tractor. Slow and powerful.

Cueing off of Whitetrash's comment about the KoO, the Lombard was also the genesis of the mighty Lynn Tractor. H.H. Lynn was a former employee of Lombard.

The magazine, Live Steam And Outdoor Railroading, ran a series of building a scale model Lombard a couple of years ago.

Back in my working days I was employed by the Dept of Public Works in Sullivan County, New York. Back in the 1930's the County had a Linn that they used to plow snow in the winter months. It was equipped with a V nose plow and 2 wings one on each side. Its motive force was a Waukashaw 6 cylinder gasoline engine and fuel economy was not a design feature. A 20 mile trip was good for about 55 gallons of gas. as time moved on the County gave it to a township which used it for several years and finally parked it in the woods literally. Some years later we had a Commissioner who quite by chance found it in the woods. He had it hauled out along with 3 Linns. He located a gentleman in Redfield New York who restores Linns for a hobby. Myself and 3 other guys hauled all 4 to Redfield and and had the Counties original restored in exchange for the remaining 3. For several years after that we took the Linn to the County fair and displayed it with demonstrations. I did many of the demos and it was a crowd pleaser. I can honestly say that with no power steering if you drove on very much you would develop some awesome arm strength. The Waukashaw had no choke so to start it you had little cups with valves into each cylinder. You would fill all the cups with gas open the valves dump the gas into the cylinders and fire it up. Everyone knew when it started. It was slow, cumbersome and loud but it would push a house down if you wanted it to. To the best of my knowledge the County still has it and it is still functional.
