Default Flat Bed Trailer Upgrade

Been wanting to do an upgrade to the 16' trailer for the last 5 years, but too cheap to buy new expanded metal. When hauling 2x4 for example, they tend to slide forward past the front rail, so been wanting to add expanded metal 1' high around the sides to keep the load on the trailer. The missus saw an ad on our local Facebook trading post for three 4x8x1/16" for $50 yesterday. That did get my attention. Picked them up this morning.

Got the front and two 8' cut pieces cut and welded on at the top today. It was a lot of 3/4" welds 2" apart. Used 3/32 6011. I will finish with the last two back pieces and weld all the lower sides on Monday. Auction tomorrow and 20% chance of rain Sunday.

This just got me to thinking, Ive got a 12k 16' beavertail trailer for sale. 1999 model year, steel deck, been parked most of its life.

I know someone that would probably be happy bringing it out to your place, if youre looking for a heavy 16 footer.

Its a trail king, built like a brick shit house. Its got torsion's, the brakes work, rubber is not the best. mostly it needs new fender and paint, and the thing would look damn near new.

I know you like over loading the shit out of trailers, this would be a good foundation for that behavior...

Thanks for the offer, but I rarely need a heavy trailer. On the rare occasions that I do, I usually borrow my friends 20' trailer. My 16' trailer works well for me, especially for my auction travels. I just need the sides closed in so things stay put. You should have no trouble selling it at that price.

The trailer is well built but it is limited to two 3500# axles. Most of the time I am hauling only 1000# or less.

If you were closer Greg you could stop in and get the leftover stuff to do your trailer.

I'd take you up on that. But I think the commute would kill me And as much as I need, won't fit in a flat rate box....Oh well. I gotta stop at the steel place soon and I'll check prices on some
