Default Branding Iron

A good friend of mine was wanting a branding iron with his initials to mark his bee hives. This past weekend I put together a small branding iron for him. My little girl had to help also. She did a good job cutting the 1/4 round rod.
Since his initials are D D, I picked up a couple of "D" rings from Lowes and O/A welded it all together.

CEC, nice work! *Using the "D" rings is an efficient innovation.

Best of all, is getting your daughter involved. Down the road, in reflection, she will most likely treasure the project with her dad, long after you're gone.

That's really neat.

A co-worker asked me a few weeks ago if I'd make him a vat tank so he could dip his newly built hive boxes etc in wax.

After thinking about it, I suggested he buy a work box from Lowes, add a thicker piece of steel on it's bottom and he'd be good to go. It has a hinged top, lock and it's already done.

Thanks for the good comments.
She is a "Daddy's Girl".
That was her first time using a hacksaw. Glad I had one of those minis for her to use. She already know "lefty loosey righty tighty".

Off topic sort of.....

Here is picture of her helping me plant some seeds (pears) that I germinated in the refrigerator. (4/28/12)

Also, here is a picture of how the pears are growing. (5/8/12)

Wrap up every second that you can with her. When my kids were at that age I had to leave and work on cross country pipelines for 16 yrs living out of a motel most of the time. I missed ballgames, graduations and countless times that I should have been home with them. The 26th of May my daughter is graduating high school and starting college and my 10th grade son is moving to a prep school in Mobile,Al. and its a dormatory type of school.I've just got to come home and tring to spend time with them.Seems like last year they were 5 and 2.
