Default thumblatch craziness..

I've been making time to forge latches as I have many demos to do and the table was pretty empty..

Since these are more show pieces or higher ended latches it show cases what the potential is..

I like the asymmetrical one with the little offset nail tab.

I can't make up my mind, they are all good.

That was one thing I took away from Ian McGregor at the Museum of Making. He said all the engineers he works with and trains, he tells them that if they want to leave something in this world that will outlast them, the things they design have to look good as well as function. He said you can design something that is cutting edge, and 6 months on new technology has made it obsolete, but if it has beauty as well as function, it will last and be handed down for a generation, if not, it will become scrap metal.
