Default Cable Slider

At the request of the Great and Powerful Oz, er, I mean Cutter.

I'm reposting so it can be moved easier.

I moved my old tombstone on top of a cabinet to save floor space.
I needed a better way to store cables without making them difficult to get to.
Space is at a premium...

I mounted a set of full extension ball bearing drawer slides on the side of the cabinet. I used 22in slides, because that's what I had available. It is critical that they be mounted absolutely parallel. Extend them out to get a longer frame of reference, within 1/16 should be more than adequate.

Next, I fabricated a simple square frame out of 1x1x1/8 inch angle. You could use about anything rigid depending on your scrap pile. The taller you make the frame, the less length leverage will have to work against the slides.

I mounted a couple of pieces of 2x1/4 flat bar 4-1/2 inches long for the cables to rest on and capped them with a couple of 2-1/4 inch disks from my scrap pile.
