![]() ![]() The rims were rolled with the now completed ring roller. Spokes were drilled thru and welded on the back side, then ground smooth. Roses are copper that have been silver soldered to the stems, then taped off before painting. There is an interesting fence that came with the property when Dad bought it in '66-'67, and the fence is at least ten years older than that. I remember looking thru that fence as a wee lad and talking to the Widow Miller. There are overlapping arches on 6" centers at the top and lower down more arches on 3" centers. Supposedly that fence is now only available in Texas as they only run a few rolls a year on old equipment. Don't know how true that is, but the overlapping arches on my gate came from that style of fence.

I thought that I would add this piece of thought/procedure.
Initially the big wheels were to be 16" OD. After contemplating predrilling the spoke holes, I settled on 4-3/16" between spokes on the circumference. 4.1875 x 12 / pi = 15.995" 15.995 (neutral axis) + .125 (rim thickness) = 16.120" on the circumference OD. Close enough. When it come to "art", close enough is always good.

Found this site after looking for "decorative wire fencing". They are proud of their product.

Damn nice looking gate.
That double loop rabbit wire was expensive 15 years ago. I ran it as my front yard fence and it was $3/ft back then. I got it at D and D farm and ranch in Seguin tx. I was going to look and see if they still carried it but the website kept setting off my security settings. At the price shown I believe I'd go with chain link next time. ![]() |

Nice job, did you get it powder coated? I hope your sister enjoys it as much as we enjoy ours.
