Default Affordable equipment grease

I've been using more grease than ever and have been impressed with Amsoil synthetic. The only problem is its not cheap. What do you guys use? I bought a tube of Lucas red n tacky a day or so ago but have not tried it. I can buy it for 5 bucks versus 10 bucks for amsoil.

What are your thoughts?

When I was running the excavator every day I was buying PetroCan general purpose. At 2-4 tubes a day, a case would last about a month.

Sometimes high quality grease is worth the extra, sometimes as long as the grease is getting used is what’s important.

What’s the application?

So true...any grease is better than no grease...

Has the OP tried Crisco ?

Should be able to just scoop the stuff right into the grease gun.

Likely way too low of a melting point.

Application is various farm tractors, Case 850B dozer, Case 580 Super E, and varis vehicles.

I didn't say cheap. I was getting at more affordable than 10 dollars a tube. I was interested in what others were using that worked for them.

I usually get grease at auctions for $1 a tube. Sometimes it is high quality and sometimes it is the $3 a tube stuff.

I've been using Mobil Unirex EP2 for years. I buy it by the case (I think there's 10 tubes per case); cheaper than buying it at some hardware store or wherever by the tube.
The main reason I settled on that particular brand was scientifically based....................the Mobil bulk dealer was located just down the road from the shop versus driving clear over to the far side of town where the Shell bulk dealer was .

You are going to want a:

Lithium complex grease (thickener type)
NLGI grade 2
with EP (extreme pressure) properties

I would recommend:

Mobilgrease XHP™ 222
Mystik JT-6 There are several options get the Red version NLGI #2.
