RED Caddy,

When you get done with that, here's another race toy you could build. Sort of a rail in reverse.

Welp, it's update time.

Long story, told fast, nice happy ending...I think.

I've been cold trailing a one piece 'glass front end for the 'pony, not having much luck. I started listing in the classified's on some of the car boards. Last Wed. I placed a "I want it" listing on the National pinto club board, for a flip front.

Sat morning,
I was walking the gun show in Trampa, my phone rang, a guy in Nevada was cleaning out and selling his FIL's house, in the middle of "west, Past the end of the road, nowhere" Navada, Just off HWY 80. looking east," over the horizon" from Reno. No cell signal, no wifi, no computer, calling from a micky D's parking lot, on a burn phone, 46 miles from the house. one of his buddy's had seen my add and called him with my phone number.

He had found 2 of the clips I was searching for, in the pole barn out behind the house. ( His FIL was a pretty well known fabricator in the 70"s-80's, I recognized the name, but have since forgotten, imagine that) After 6 dropped calls, 2 fights with the wife, (it was her fathers junk) and a LOT of negotiating, a deal was struck for $200.00 for both and I would pay shipping. No pictures, just a pretty good description and the shipping tag telling what they were and so forth.

Here's the really strange part. The 2 clips and some furniture was all that had to go, to finish the sale of the house. Just that morning, a local scrapper wanted $35.00 each to haul them away, with the dining room set... Good will refused to drive out to pick anything up, too far away. The plan was to drag all the stuff out and burn it before they left. I tried every workaround I could think of, nothing was gonna work out. He couldn't even get a FLAPS to get them to their shipper, even his real estate agent was not inclined to help, Even to come out and text me a picture.

I tossed a coin, while he looked up a shipper, in Reno, and made the arrangements to drop them off on the way to the airport for a night flight back to his place in New Mexico.

When he called back, I closed the deal and wired $350.00 to him in Reno, yea, I know, I was taking a huge risk, likely buying a pig in a poke and doing something I NEVER do, trusting a voice on the phone. Either I was getting the deal of the century, or I was just pissing away the money. No balls, no big blue chips, I guess.

I didn't hear from him again until 11:30 this morning, heard A long tale, from drama with the shipper to the rental pick up broke down on the way to the airport...

The good news is, the parts are on their way, be here by Thursday, he's gonna email me the shipping documents tonight. Because I paid the $28.00 fee at western union, (yea, that's legalized robbery) he kicked in the $30.00 crate fee at the shipper's.

Looks like we trusted each other and every body's gonna be happy soon.

I'll finish this tale, later this week, with pictures of what I bought, I hope.

It's Summer time in the tropics"hot" here today (feels like 112°) so the only thing on my agenda is ice tea and AC.

Sorry for the book, but I really did leave out a bunch of really funny stuff, I guess ya had to be there...

You do spin a good tall story. Always interesting to hear about your adventures.

Thank you Chris, Some folks hereabouts appreciate a good yarn, well told. Others not so much. I will continually strive to not disappoint...

Those who don't don't matter and probably should spend their time elsewhere.

$30 crate charge?
I was a believer until you said that!
Ha,just kidding!!

A long time ago i had a Hewland transaxle out of a Lola race car,and a Moon intake for a BB chevy with side draft webers.
This was way before internet and i was sitting on this stuff, with no idea on how to market it.
One day i picked up an "autoweek" newspaper somewhere and in the back was a "wanted" add.
Wanted,501 Hewland transaxle,will pay $5000.
HOT SHIT!!
i call the guy and tell him i had seen his add and i had what he needed.
He said "what add",i tell him the one in autoweek,he asked me to check the date on the mag.
The paper was 5 years old,he still needed the tranny and i sold it and the Moon intake to him for just under $10,000.
Your luck is running strong, thanks for the update.
